In front of the Museum of the Coastal Swedes stands a symbolic memorial to the boat refugees made of field stones. The stones were brought from historical Coastal Swede areas. The author of the memorial is the well-known Coastal Swede landscape architect Sture Koinberg, and it was ceremonially unveiled in the autumn of 2014.
The great exodus from Estonia took place in the summer and autumn of 1944.
