Swedes have been settling the coastal areas of Northwest Estonia and various islands for over 1000 years.
There could be multiple reasons for the settlement: probably the seafarers of that time were interested in coastal settlements to have safer points of support during voyages, as well as the Baltic German nobility being interested in Christian peasants, and certainly, it is also related to the timeless human desire for adventure and the wish to see and conquer new uninhabited areas.

in building the Maritime Center!
The museum’s courtyard will feature the Maritime Center, intended for various activities. The first floor will house a boat workshop and a café with a kitchen. The second floor will have a multifunctional hall for exhibitions, conferences, and concerts, accommodating up to 60 people. Help us complete the Maritime Center!
